Science Museums of San Francisco
If science is the language that touches you, and for many of us, it is just that, you really can visit some of San Francisco museums that focus on science more than art. I find both to be of equal importance, but there are those, many, in fact, would disagree with me. Whatever your feelings about it, if you have a child you want to encourage them to pay more attention in science classes at school is an excellent idea to take in a museum like this in order to fan the flames of curiosity.
Science meets many questions about the past and offers many clues about the future of our world and the universe. Without science, there is much we can not not, and even more that we do not understand. I think any of use would be difficult to identify the most important scientific discovery throughout history. There are so many things that are all very important for the life we enjoy today and yet every scientific discovery happened because that someone, somewhere, has asked a question.
It is really amazing. When you think about it, physics, chemistry, mathematics, astronomy, none of these things would be studied today if someone had not found the curious at some point in history. Precisely why I think museums like the Exploratorium are so important in the development of future scientists. If we spark the curiosity of our children at a young age there is nothing to prevent them from later discoveries. The Exploratorium encourages children to explore the world around them, even how science affects other things they enjoy (like skateboarding). If you can use a skateboard to teach physics, imagine what you can do with a car.
The Morrison Planetarium is a perfect place to take entire family if you are really interested in seeing the stars. I do not speak Hollywood starlets, but real stars. If you or your children has any interest in studying the stars, it will be a pleasure for you all. I sincerely hope you will at least check it.
The Natural History Museum offers many exhibits that deal with different aspects of life. Perhaps the neatest thing about the Natural History Museum is that you will enjoy a very hands on approach to learning here. Indeed fossil skulls and handling really artifacts cool, very little is off limits. This means that even the most difficult child to amuse could find something that interests us here, at least, it hope.
Finally, it is the Steinhart Aquarium. This is not the Aquarium of the Bay, but a municipal aquarium which has the distinction of being the oldest operating municipal aquarium in America. Among the exhibits awesome that can be found here are several rare specimens that can be found in the wild. The tide pool is perhaps one of the most anticipated attractions of this aquarium. This that small hands actually get to touch some animals that their little eyes looking in the tanks. Just be careful what you do not at home with a car full of future marine biologists that this experience can ignite a passion for marine life that will last for some time.
Science is a great thing to be studied and explored. I can think of few things I'd rather see my children than pursuing an endless search for truth and evidence in support of these truths. I hope that by introducing them to opportunities like these I will have contributed to a life long process of finding answers will be very useful. And all this may be due to a trip to San Francisco.
